I'm always excited when couples choose Shuttleworth as their wedding venue. This vast estate in the heart of Bedfordshire has so many options for your big day, from the historic Shuttleworth House to the beautiful Swiss Gardens.

Versatile Spaces to Match Your Personalities

One of the things I love most about Shuttleworth is how it offers such an incredible variety of spaces to match your unique personalities and wedding vision.

Shuttleworth House Grandeur

With exclusive use, the Jacobean-style Shuttleworth House allows you to choose between an array of grand and unique rooms to hold your ceremony, wedding breakfast, and evening reception. The versatility of the space means it's capable of being a stunning backdrop for both intimate gatherings and lavish celebrations.

The Swiss Garden Fairytale

The nine-acre Swiss Garden, a restored Regency Garden in the 'Alpine' style, really sets itself apart from any other English country garden. Complete with ornate bridges, ponds, romantic archways, unique buildings, and meandering paths, it feels like you're stepping into another world.

Vintage Dreams at The Shuttleworth Collection

The Shuttleworth Collection is a gold mine of vintage aircraft, agricultural and steam exhibits, veteran vehicles, classic motorcycles, bicycles, carriages, and buses.

The Collection's Hangar 3 is a really unique space to host your wedding, comfortably accommodating up to 130 guests. Just imagine dining amongst these incredible machines, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for you and your guests.

Let Your Imagination Run Wild at Old Warden Parkland

With 425 acres of historic parkland including rare trees, a beautiful lake, and sweeping countryside views, Old Warden Park is the perfect blank canvas for you to create a really unique and unforgettable wedding experience.

This stunning setting offers the opportunity to host a marquee or tipi wedding for up to 5,000 guests, with the stunning Shuttleworth House as a breathtaking backdrop. The vast size of the parkland allows you to let your imagination run wild and make every aspect of your big day reflect your wedding style and vision.

A Photographer's Take on Shuttleworth

What I love most about Shuttleworth isn't just the grand architecture or breathtaking views (although my camera certainly appreciates both!). It's how the venue creates these perfect pockets for real moments to unfold. These are the photographs that end up being the most treasured, not the posed group shots, but the genuine emotions with your loved ones that bubble up throughout your day.

As a photographer, Shuttleworth is a dream. The house's unique features, like the grand staircase, create the perfect spot for special moments like your 'first look'. Outside, the pretty archways, rustic structures, and ornate bridges offer a range of textures and aesthetics to play with. I especially enjoy when couples allocate a bit of extra time for portraits, as we can explore different areas of the estate and take advantage of all its hidden gems.

The Beauty of Every Season

Each season offers something different, but the consistent thread is the timeless quality these surroundings lend to your photographs. In spring, the Swiss Garden becomes a paradise full of spring blooms. Summer continues the burst of colour and allows for beautiful golden hour photographs with a backdrop of the beautiful house and parklands. In autumn, the Swiss Garden bursts into a canvas of warm oranges and reds before falling away in late autumn and winter to reveal stunning views of the house and parkland.

For the Camera-Shy Among Us

If you're someone who's told me "I hate having my photo taken" (and trust me, about 80% of my clients say this), Shuttleworth offers endless opportunities for natural, unobtrusive photography.

The variety of settings mean we can find spaces that make you feel comfortable rather than spotlighted. Maybe it's walking hand-in-hand along the winding paths, sharing a quiet moment in the Swiss Cottage, or giggling together as you explore the aircraft collection.

I've found that even the most camera-shy couples forget their nerves when they're in a place that fascinates them. The venue becomes a conversation piece, allowing me to capture your natural expressions and interactions without you feeling "posed" or put on the spot.

Engagement Shoots at Shuttleworth

I've had the pleasure of photographing couples' pre-wedding photoshoots at Shuttleworth, and it's so lovely to walk around the grounds with them, hearing about all their exciting plans and helping them get comfortable in front of the camera.

The variety of backdrops mean we can create a beautiful collection of images that showcase your love story with genuine emotion, ready to use for your wedding stationery. The venue is very accommodating of engagement shoots, which is a testament to their commitment to providing an exceptional experience for couples throughout their entire wedding journey.

A Venue That Helps You Relax

While the spaces are lovely, it's really the Shuttleworth team that makes the venue shine. As someone who prides herself on bringing a calming presence to wedding days, I notice and appreciate venues that do the same.

The staff move with quiet efficiency, anticipating needs before they arise. It's like they create a cocoon where you can be totally present rather than worrying about logistics. The team are always so committed to bringing each couple's 'perfect day' to life with impeccable planning, exceptional attention to detail and a warm friendly welcome.

If you're looking for a Bedfordshire wedding venue that's brimming with history, character, and beauty, I can't recommend Shuttleworth highly enough. Its remarkable features and incredible staff are sure to make your celebration unforgettable – and I would be honoured to capture it all for you.
